Annie Lennox
Annie Lennox, born 25th December 1954, in Aberdeen Scotland. Dorothy Farquharson, and Thomas Allison Lennox were her parents. Lennox attended the Royal Academy of Music, London in the 70s. She studied the harpsichord as well as the flautist piano for three years. Lennox was paid a stipend and did part-time jobs to help supplement her income. Lennox believed that her abilities weren't as good as those of the Royal Academy classmates. So she thought about alternative paths she could take. Lennox began her career in 1976 when she joined the band Dragons Playground. But she quit shortly before New Faces, the I.T.V. talent show. She was the singer of The Tourists from 1977 until in 1980. In this band, she was met by Dave Stewart. Together they will create The Eurythmics pop duo. Lennox collaborated on her solo debut record Diva. It was released in 1993. It received lots of praise from critics and the public. Nostalgia Lennoxs Sixth Solo Album came out in October of 2014. This C.D. is a selection of Lennoxs favorite soul jazz and blues tunes from her upbringing. Lepidoptera includes four keyboard improvised tracks. The E.P. is an accompanying piece to her art installation in the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art entitled"Now I'll Let You go... It's also her debut independently-released album. Annie Lennox is a Scottish musician and singer who was born on the 25th of December 1954. Following a modest success as a member of the band called The Tourists in the late 1970s, she and her fellow musician Dave Stewart went on to gain international recognition as the duo known as Eurythmics in the 1980s. The year 1992 was the year Lennox started her own solo career with her debut album Diva that produced a number of hit songs includingWhy andWalking through Broken Glass. Medusa the studio album released in 1995 contains cover versions of songs including No MoreI Love Yous andA Whiter Shade of Pale. Six studio albums of her own as well as a compilation album are at her disposal. |
