Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. As a child within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. In the Maryland high school contest in her early years of training, she was awarded the title for best actress. She earned her acting degree from the New York University after working in the Washington Ballet Company' as well as on stage. Contractor was born in Mumbai and resided in Nigeria during seven years, experienced a variety of cultural experiences and travels at an early age. From the age of seven to nine, the young lady attended boarding schools in London. Her family then moved to Toronto and she resided there through the majority of her childhood. Contractor accepted the invitation to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course. Only eight men selected and four females accepted for a 20-week intensive course of classical theater.
